The ICAEW Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Award

Chartered Accountants have a key role to play in helping to maintain business confidence by ensuring that people can rely on the financial information they use in order to make decisions. The ICAEW does this through the work of our members and the support we provide for them, the rigour of the qualifications we offer, the industry debate we help foster, the partnerships and networks we have built, our thought leadership promoting the theory and practice of accounting, and through the delivery of our public interest remit.

ICAEW members provide the technical knowledge and guidance based on the highest technical and ethical standards. Last year the ICAEW launched the first business sustainability e-learning tool (BSP), which aims to raise awareness of the business case for corporate responsibility and the issues that face companies in becoming sustainable. The course, which is delivered in 5 e-learning modules, is not only for finance, accounting and business professionals, but for all those who need a practical guide to designing, implementing, measuring the performance of and reporting on corporate responsibility strategy .
Post recession we believe it will be businesses that have embraced sustainability that will be the survivors and the commitment to corporate responsibility will be an important part of a successful business strategy.
