Sophie Evans revolutionises social perceptions of domestic cleaning industry13 Oct 2016
Whilst excellent customer service and big profit margins are key for any successful business, Sophie Evans began her business with a different agenda; Dirty Cows, a domestic cleaning service earned recognition for making difficult and much needed changes to the way the domestic cleaning service industry currently functions, by bringing a genuine pride, status and respect back to the important role of cleaners and housekeepers in the UK.
Aiming to achieve better working conditions, practices, opportunities and benefits for her employees, Sophie has worked hard on changing the social, economic and perceived status of the service industry by becoming the first professional domestic cleaning company to provide employees with private health care for themselves and their dependent children, as well as offering a pension scheme, workplace discounts, flexible working hours and professional training and opportunities for promotion.
“Our employees are as important as our clients and attracting the right people to our team is paramount to our success. I don’t mind admitting the great satisfaction I get from challenging a poorly perceived, age old industry and really shaking things up.
We are genuinely thrilled to be selected as a finalist in the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards for The Howard Kennedy Employer of Year award. We have spent many years challenging the underwhelming stereotype of the domestic cleaning service industry in the UK, and there is nothing more important to a successful business than the quality and integrity of its service and the calibre of its employees.” Says Sophie Evans.
Dirty Cows Ltd is a professional ‘boutique’ cleaning company started in 2009 and provides three different types of domestic cleaning service, tailored to suit each individual clients’ personal cleaning requirements. It is also the pioneer of the ‘Gift Package Clean’, having spent many years crafting a unique selection of gift cleaning services for a range of special occasions and celebrations; best sellers include the new baby package clean which provides a Dirty Cows housekeeper for 3 hours per week following the birth of a baby.
