Luminus Group encourages staff engagement through Health and Wholeness15 Oct 2015
As one of the region's leading employers, Luminus Group, a not-for-profit housing provider is passionate about developing and investing in all their members of staff. With employee engagement at the heart of their Organisational Wholeness Strategy, Luminus has been able to build a team who are inspired, engaged and motivated daily in their work and in the organisations 2020 vision along The Road to Renewal to change the world where they are.
"I think it is vitally important that companies educate their employees on living as healthy a lifestyle as possible"
A key driver of Luminus’ HR Strategy is the Health and Wholeness initiative. Launched in 2014, this initiative has had a positive impact on the workforce and encourages staff to live a healthy lifestyle; employees are invited to free fitness classes, offered discounted personal training sessions, gym membership, healthcare and physiotherapy. A free chaplaincy service, discounted legal and financial advice, plus discounts at local restaurants and retailers.
The annual Health and Wholeness Day, is a key for Luminus employees. Last year’s health and wholeness “fair” featured a number of exhibitors, including Ashton KC who offered legal advice, Westfield Health provided information about cash back healthcare plans, Ewing Associates who offered financial advice, and the Luminus HR Business Team who gave an overview of all benefits available to staff.
Staff were also offered BMI and blood pressure tests, weight and height measurements, and the Injury Clinic held a drop-in clinic offering free consultations on current injuries and biomechanical assessments to identify areas for improvement. Throughout the day employees kept fit by keeping the treadmill, cycling machine and rowing machine going, completing a total of 135 miles – the equivalent distance of Huntingdon to Brighton!
Dr Chan Abraham, Luminus Group Chief Executive, said: “I think it is vitally important that companies educate their employees on living as healthy a lifestyle as possible, as this has an effect not just on the business but also our public services such as the NHS. Since introducing our Health and Wholeness initiative at Luminus we have seen a reduction in short-term sickness absence and an improvement in productivity and morale throughout the company. I would encourage other companies to follow our lead to make a difference to their team members.”
From the organisations inspirational staff events to the generous benefit packages, employees are on board with Luminus’ long-term goals and 94% say they are proud to work for Luminus.
