Innovative app connects parents and nursery staff10 Oct 2015
After spotting a niche in the market for software to ease the administrative burden on childcare staff in nursery settings, the team at Connect Childcare are now making a real difference to the lives of pre-school children globally.
The Lancashire firm’s innovative nursery management software has evolved significantly over the past 10 years to keep pace with technological developments such as smartphones and apps. Its latest innovation, ParentZone, puts busy parents in touch with their child’s development wherever they are, and enables nurseries and parents to work together for the benefit of their children.
"Over 20,000 parents have downloaded ParentZone since launch in March 2015 and more than 65,000 parents will be using it after the first year."
ParentZone allows parents to access a Facebook style timeline of their child’s day and view descriptions, photos and videos of wow moments. They can stay in touch with their child’s day wherever they are and can interact with staff by responding to posts or uploading details of their child at home. This helps nurseries to fulfil vital government legislation entitled Parents as Partners, where emphasis is put on nurseries and parents working alongside each other to support children’s development.
Connect Childcare was set up by CEO Chris Reid, a father of two himself. This dual role as parent and businessman gives Chris an in-depth understanding of the pressures on nurseries and working parents and led him to wanting to be part of the progress his young children were making, whilst still balancing a busy work schedule.
Since the release of ParentZone earlier this year, Connect Childcare has gone from strength to strength with a number of investments in additional staff, processes and systems to enhance the experience of their customers.
Sales have gone through the roof with sales records being smashed three times in the last financial year. Turnover is continuing to rise, and the recruitment of two new sales staff have led to increased orders already. The software has also just received industry recognition in the Staff Resources category at the Nursery World Awards.
Chris said: “The adoption of ParentZone by nurseries and parents as been phenomenal since we launched it earlier in 2015. Over 20,000 parents have downloaded ParentZone since launch in March 2015 and more than 65,000 parents will be using it after the first year. ParentZone has huge onward potential, with a prospective customer base of 1.4million UK parents with children currently in day care
“We’re really proud that through our innovation, we’re doing something good, making nurseries more efficient so that staff can spend more time with children”
