Richard Alvin, Group Managing Director, Capital Business Media group
Richard heads up the business media publishing and research company Capital Business Media which has offices in London & New York. The company owns the UKs leading monthly business magazine Business Matters, the global fund management title Fund Manager Today and Angels whilst also having a separate research division, Trends Research a specialist in online surveying the UK SME community. Having successfully sold two previous businesses Richard also has a number of angel investments in new-start companies and was named by The Observer newspaper & The Courvoisier Future 500 as 'someone to watch' in their top 100 business people list.
Why has Richard decided to judge the National Business Awards?

In his role, Martin is responsible for the development of marketing propositions and the broader business development of the segment. He is focussed on establishing Orange as the first choice for small to medium business customers through providing compelling offers and a best in class customer experience.
Prior to his current role, Martin held a variety of positions in Orange UK including Commercial Director for Sales and Service where he developed and implemented a new channel footprint and sales strategy; and Commercial Finance Director for Consumer and Small Business where he was pivotal in driving the growth of Orange UK.
Steve Pateman, Executive Director of Corporate, Commercial and Business Banking, Santander Corporate Banking
Steve has been involved in investment, corporate, commercial and business banking for over 25 years and joined Santander UK (Abbey) in June 2008 as Managing Director and advanced to Head of UK Corporate and Commercial Banking in June 2009. Previously working with NatWest and RBS, Steve has experience of running businesses with profit and loss in excess of £1.0bn with over 5,000 staff and has also worked on a variety of financings, restructurings, capital market and equity issues during his time in NatWest Markets.
